From your answers, it looks like our medically-supported detox programme may not be the best fit right now. Clean Slate Clinic is designed for people who are physically dependent on alcohol (e.g. daily or almost daily use with withdrawal symptoms when stopping).

That said, there are times we can still help lower-volume drinkers, especially if: you’ve had withdrawal symptoms before; binge drink with “day-after” shakes/anxiety; or have health conditions that make alcohol riskier.

Safety first

Because you’ve told us you’ve had a withdrawal seizure before, a home detox is usually not the safest option. Prior seizures (or delirium tremens) are strong risk factors for dangerous withdrawal and typically require hospital-based care.

When we may still help

If your seizure was a long time ago and you’ve had no severe withdrawal features since, we can do a clinical review to see if a supported reduction plan (cutting down safely rather than stopping abruptly) is appropriate.
